Internship
Every Computer Engineering student is required to do 2 different internships, which must each be 20 workdays long. It is not allowed to do a single 40 workday long internship. A student that has earned the right to take 5th period courses may do their first internship, and a student that has earned the right to take 7th period courses may do their second internship.
Students who have applied after the 2022-2023 academic year (subject to the new curriculum) will have the final grade of their internships recorded under the Staj 1 (BLM413) course in period 7 and the Staj 2 (BLM423) course in period 8.
Our department’s Internship Code of Practice and Internship Report Template are included in the appendix.

Frequently Asked Questions:
1. Can the internship report be written by hand?NO: It must be written on a word processor. It is recommended that reports be written on Microsoft Word using the “Internship Report Template” downloadable from this page or the internship management system.
2. Does there need to be an empty week between two internships done in the same year?
YES: For insurance entry processes to be ready in time, there needs to be at least one week between two internships (especially for internships done during summer)
3. Does the “Company Executive” signing the Internship Application and Acceptance Form need to be a qualified engineer?
NO: An authorized person from Human Relations or the company owner may also sign the forms.
4. Can one apply for an internship in a company operating in a different sector if the company in question has a software department?
YES: If the internship supervisor fits the criteria given in our Internship Code of Practice, it is possible to do an internship in the software department of a non-software company.
5. Can one apply for an internship in a sole proprietorship?
YES: If the internship supervisor fits the criteria given in our Internship Code of Practice, it is possible to do an internship in a sole proprietorship company.
6. In internships done in different departments of the same company, is it possible to continue working on the same project during the second internship?
YES: For example, one internship may work on the front-end part of a project, and the other internship may work on the back-end part of the same project. The two internships must be done in different departments, and be signed by different internship supervisors.
7. Do the two internships need to be done in different fields (such as software, hardware, network systems and information systems)?
NO: Both internships may be done in the same field.
8. Does insurance have to be covered by the faculty? What must be done if one’s internship is to be done in a company that already covers insurance?
It is not required for insurance to be covered by the faculty. A Social Security Institution document showing that one’s insurance is already covered must be sent to the address stajmuh@trakya.edu.tr.
9. Can one’s internship be done interterm or as one’s courses are ongoing?
As the interterm lasts less than 4 weeks, an internship cannot be done during that time. Students who do not have compulsory attendance for any courses they’re currently taking may do an internship during the Fall and Spring periods according to the announced schedule.
10. Can one apply for both of their internships at the same time?
After their first internship application is approved, one can start applying for their second internship, as long as there is at least one empty week between the two internships.
11. Can one’s internship be done at a remote work company? Would it cause a problem if the company is overseas, or if the company is domestic but the student is in a foreign country during the internship period?
Internships can be done at a remote work company. Internships can be done in an overseas company. It does not matter whether the student is in the same country as the company during the internship period or not.
12. If one is assigned to a different department than the one chosen during the internship application (such as being assigned to the software department after specifying the hardware department during the application), what must be done?
In the Internship Report, it must state the field that one actually worked on during their internship, rather than the one specified during the application.
13. Can internships be done at times beyond what is specified in the management system? Can an internship start a few days before or after?
NO: The insurance entries for students are done according to the specified dates. It is not possible for dates to be changed for specific students.
14. Can internship applications be canceled?
YES: As long as the application deadline for internships has not passed, the student can cancel their internships on the management system. If the deadline has passed, the internship department can still cancel the internship.
15. If one finds an internship in a different company after their internship application, what must be done to cancel the previous internship?
If the internship application process has not ended yet, the student may cancel the internship and apply again. If the Social Security Institution insurance process was completed and the internship is to be done in the same period, the new internship may be done with the same SSI insurance by informing the internship committee and the internship department. If it is past the internship start date, the internship department must be informed, and the existing SSI insurance must be canceled in order to cancel the existing internship from the system. Afterward, a new application can be made for the next internship application period following the canceled internship; with a newly drafted document for one’s new internship application.
16. Must every page of the report be signed individually?
NO: Individual pages being signed is no longer necessary following the switch to online delivery of internship reports. In the new system, a separate document known as the Internship Tracking Chart is now the only document that needs to be signed.
